I have always been a nature-loving type of girl, having grown up surrounded by animals, so it's no surprise that most of my images focus on landscapes, animals and nature.
Being an ardent traveller, you'll notice many of my images have been taken outside of the UK; I've been fortunate enough to travel to 22 countries so far, and have many more on my wishlist. I really enjoy macro photography, and take a lot of enjoyment in capturing images of details that most people overlook. Most recently I have added an infrared filter to my kit bag, and I'm looking forward to creating some surreal landscapes with it.
I take a lot of pride in my work, and I will only sell art and home décor that I'd be happy to have in my own home. If you have any questions or requests, just ask me and I will answer as soon as I can.
You can find me in my studio...
Do you offer international delivery?
Yes I do. So far, I have sold to 14 countries across 5 continents and counting! Very occasionally, I may find it is impossible for me to send a very large canvas to your country after you have ordered it. This is because canvases are large, heavy and fragile items which can be very expensive to ship. Although I will try my absolute best to find a solution including a new lab or new courier, it may prove impossible in which case I will be in touch to let you know and we can work together to find you a solution such as your print on metal or acrylic, or a full refund if you so wish. So far this has never happened but it is a possibility to be aware of.
Where is your shop based?
I am based in Manchester, England. This means all my prints and framed prints are sent from the UK. However, due to the size and production methods of canvases and home décor items, they are sent directly from my partner manufacturers. This means your canvas will come from either the UK, US, Canada or Australia. I will always try to send your canvas from the closest lab, and tell you in advance if I can't. All home décor items are manufactured and sent from my partner manufacturer in Hendersonville, North Carolina, USA. Please be aware this means you may incur customs charges which are not covered by shipping costs and for which you are responsible.
What is your returns policy?
Sophie Takes Photos is a small, independently-run business and all my art and home décor is made to order especially for you. As such, I ask that you please make thoughtful purchases to avoid the need for returns.
Saying that, if there is anything wrong with your order, I'll do everything I can to put it right. This includes offering you an exchange or a refund. Unfortunately I'm not able to reimburse shipping costs.
What are loose, mounted and framed prints?
Loose prints are fine art giclee prints on either Somerset Velvet or Hanhemuhle Photo Rag matte fine art paper in your chosen size. Mounted prints are those same giclee prints in a snow whie mount, signed and titled on the mount by me, ready to frame. Framed prints are the whole shebang - mounted giclee prints in a handmade wooden frame, the size and colour of your choice.
Do you do custom requests?
YES! I love getting a request for a custom order! So far, I have added typography quotes on my prints and canvases, done collages of customer's own photos onto bags and duvet covers, and even gone back through my archives looking for a cow portrait! If it's a simple design request, I'll do it for free, and if it's a bit more complicated I'll need to add a small charge to cover my time but whatever it is, just drop me a line via email or the 'contact' page and I will be happy to discuss it with you!
